BEAR HUNTS
The grizzly bear population in Alaska's Game Management
#19 are at an all time high.
All of Unit #19 are considered
"grizzly bears" by the Safari Club International
and a good
portion are considered grizzly bears by Boone
& Crockett.
Over the past ten years our clients have placed many
grizzlies in top 10 SCI, and good amount have qualified
for B&C. Several have qualified as brown bears -
depending on location. Average hides have squared well
over eight feet with many over nine feet. Contact
some of our clients and see why these hunts booked full
every year. Typically if a spring hunter doesn't take
a grizzly, he will re-book for the folowing spring with
us!!

Mr. Jim Townsend of Clearwater FL and his quality grizzly on second day of his 10
day hunt. This boar became Jim's with 2 well placed 500 grain Woodleigh bullet
s fired from his Doug Turnbull restored 1886 Winchester.
Jim and hunting partner Kevin Ketner left lodge May 22nd and were our last 2009
spring hunters. Basically we went 5 grizzlies for 7 hunters with both unsuccessful
hunters booking another hunt with Stoney River Lodge prior to leaving lodge.
First bear of the season. 2nd time spring bear hunter Jason Sinclair from
St. Paul, Alberta took monster. Hide squared 9'3". skull 272/8"
Ellie Eunice, Peters Creek AK with 6' 4" black bear taken Memorial Day
with a single shot.
